WHAT IS THE FIND-A-CPA ONLINE REFERRAL SERVICE?
The Find-A-CPA Online Referral Service is a member benefit from the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Find-A-CPA promotes to the public the value and range of services that CPAs provide and assists in building your client base. The service is free to the public and allows individuals and businesses to search for a CPA by location, client service, industries served, size of firm and foreign languages spoken at the firm.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
When a business or individual needs to find a CPA firm, they simply access the Find-A-CPA Online Referral Service by visiting our website at www.findacpa.org. The database allows searches for a CPA firm using 21 counties, 29 services, 20 industries, four firm
sizes, and a multitude of foreign languages. Once the criteria is entered, the database quickly produces a list of matches. By clicking on the firm name, the complete firm profile – including a link to the firm’s website – will be displayed. For those who wish to use Find-A-CPA but do not have Internet access, a phone number is provided. The NJSCPA will conduct the search and mail or fax the firm profiles to them.
HOW LONG HAS THE SERVICE BEEN AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC?
Find-A-CPA launched in 2000. Usage of the site has steadily increased and it is now accessed by more than 2,000 people per month.
HOW DOES THE PUBLIC FIND OUT ABOUT FIND-A-CPA?
Find-A-CPA is aggressively marketed through promotional mailings, E-CPA (the NJSCPA’s electronic newsletter for the public), movie theater ads, yellow page listings, print ads, direct mailings to individuals and business owners, the NJSCPA website and banner ads. Press releases and public service announcements will be sent to radio stations, newspapers, chambers of commerce and public libraries notifying them about the NJSCPA Find-A-CPA Online Referral Service.
HOW WILL I KNOW THAT MY FIRM HAS BEEN REFERRED?
The Find-A-CPA database tracks the number of times each firm’s profile is viewed. Each enrolled firm is given a password-protected web page address where its statistics can be viewed. That web page also allows the firm to make edits to its profile at any time. (If additional counties, services or industries are selected, the firm will be billed the $15/year rate for each selection regardless of the remaining term of the listing.)
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE FIND-A-CPA REFERRAL SERVICE?
Any firm that meets the following criteria:
- At least one partner or shareholder must be a member in good standing with the New Jersey Society of CPAs. (If no one in your firm is a member, please click here to submit an online membership application, or contact the Membership Department at 973-226-4494.)
- Participating firms and sole practitioners must be appropriately registered and/or licensed with the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy.
- The firm must certify that it has malpractice liability insurance in force with a minimum coverage level of $100,000.
- The firm must pay the listing fee.
BILLING TERMS
- The firm’s 12-month listing term begins when the application and payment is processed and the listing is activated.
- Applications will be accepted throughout the year.
- Two months prior to the end of a firm’s listing term, a renewal notice and invoice will be sent to the firm. If payment is not received by the end of the listing term, the firm’s listing will become inactive. Payment of the renewal fee after that point re-activates the listing.
- At a firm’s request, its listing can be removed from Find-A-CPA prior to the end of the listing term, however no refund will be issued for time not used.
